The Arkansas Art Educators Presidents' Foundation

Sunday, December 11, 2011

The Arkansas Art Educators Presidents' Foundation was incorporated as an Arkansas Corporation in January of this year. The mission of the Foundation is to provide mini-grants and scholarships to K-12 classroom teachers in Arkansas public and private schools. All active classroom teachers who qualify are eligible for the grants and scholarship.

The committee that formed the foundation is co-chairedby Dr. Barbara Teague and Brenda Turner. The Secretary is Gail King, the Treasurer is Charity McCarty and Peggy Bollman and Jennifer Cates are committee members. The Foundation thanksthe committee members and all the people who helped bring the foundation into being. It has been a lot of hard work and a longtime coming.

The Foundation's By-laws call for election of officers for the corporation. Tentative plans are for the elections to be held at the November 2012 AAE convention. At that time, the committee will be dissolved. The officers are officers ofthe Foundation and are not part of, or the same, as the officers for the AAE. The two organizations, AAE and AAEPF, are separate and independent.

In the first part of next year, the committee will be asking those members of the Foundation who would like to serve as officers, board members, or committee chairpersons, to contact the committee. This information will be given to the new officers to help them get a good start on the year starting November 2012.

If you would like to be a member ofthe Foundation, the dues are $5 per year. The membership year is from November to November to coincide with the convention. You do not have to be a member ofthe AAE to be a member of the Foundation. If you would like to join, send you name, address, Email address, and phone number to Dr. Barbara Teague, 9 Summer Hill Drive, Greenbrier, AR 72058 with you $5 dues.
